Volunteer opportunities abound with Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance

We share a love for birds; do you have time to share to protect them? Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance (SoWBA, formerly Madison Audubon) is a small non-profit, which was 100% volunteer-run until the early 2010s. Though our staff is mighty, it is small—your help makes a huge difference in achieving our shared vision: protecting local habitat, teaching local kids, and conserving local birds.

Whether you want to help with a project, drop in for a pre-scheduled volunteer event, or something else, we appreciate your time and look forward to working with you!

Current volunteer openings (project-oriented)

Milkweed Seed Packaging

We have a wonderful supply of common milkweed seed to package up and give away to nature centers. Help us prepare these materials in early April so they’re ready for Earth Day and other events this spring! This work will be done in the Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance office.

RESEARCH/WRITING: MEDIA AND PR VOLUNTEER

Do you have experience in communications, publicity, or journalism? We are looking for a volunteer to help us create a new media contact list, track publicity hits, and draft or pitch press releases. The time commitment is flexible, with a volunteer working on projects as-needed.

If you are interested, email Kaitlin: ksvabek@swibirds.org
