PROGRAM:
How do you attract hummingbirds to your home? What are the best feeders for these fascinating birds? How do you maintain the feeders? What are the best perennial and annual plants to include in your garden if you want to attract hummingbirds? How do you design your yard to attract them?
If you want answers to any of these questions or if you simply want to see photos and video clips of hummingbirds at flowers and feeders in the Rocks’ own garden, join Michael and Kathi Rock. The Rocks will also cover hummingbird identification, the life and behavior of the Ruby-throated hummingbird, migration patterns, and reproduction and nesting. They will have handouts on hummingbird gardening as well as free flower bulbs and seeds for a few of the greatest plants for hummingbirds.
Michael and Kathi have been studying hummingbird behavior and gardening for hummingbirds for 10 years. Their hummingbird garden contains 100+ varieties of annual and perennial plants that attract hummingbirds and they maintain 20+ hummingbird feeders. They publish a newsletter, The Dane County Nectar News, and offer a website: mywebspace.wisc.edu/mjrock/web.
